You sit down to watch a Leprechaun movie with certain expectations which are not to be radically fucked with. You definitely expect a wisecracking leprechaun, you expect some cartoonish kills, and you expect overly-obvious commentary on human greed. Leprechaun Origins ignores all of this. The movie doesn’t even make fun of the Irish. Disgusting. And I don’t want to watch the same movie over and over. I appreciate some innovation. But this is an insult.
When I first heard about this movie I was extremely excited being a fan of the leprechaun movies but this was a huge let down. It was nothing like the other leprechaun movies which were a mix of horror action and comedy but leprechaun origins takes itself far to seriously and does not take after it's predecessors with the comedy. Also the leprechaun should have been Warwick Davis and it looks nothing like what a leprechaun should look or act like because it looks and acts like a mindless beast. The acting and special effects were mediocre at best and the plot was not original and was sort of like an Irish version of vacancy. Overall the movie was a huge disappointment and I expected better.
We’ve got our hands on two preview clips of Leprechaun Origins, the upcoming horror movie directed by Zach Lipovsky and starring Stephanie Bennett, Andrew Dunbar, Brendan Fletcher, and Melissa Roxburgh:
