Robert Young was educated in private schools and served as an apprentice to a printing business. He used his spare time to study foreign and ancient languages and eventually did some translating work. He joined the Free Church and started teaching. Later in life he started printing and selling books on his own. He was a moderate Calvinist, simple Presbyterian, and a strong textual critic/theologian. This book "Young's Analytical Concordance to the Bible" contains every word in alphabetical order utilizing the original Hebrew or Greek.
Many attempts have been made to construct concordances to the Douay VS but the definitive work, which will not have to be done again, is the Complete Concordance to the Bible (), 1953, a work by Newton Thompson and Raymond Stock.
